50th Anniversary Workshop + In the Style of Riopelle October 14

Creating “in the style of Riopelle” means painting with spontaneous strokes using palette knives instead of brushes on canvas.

In this workshop, we will explore acrylic paint combined with texturing gel to create raised, impasto abstract patterns. The palette knives will allow us to spread the paint and create crisp lines. Riopelle also liked to use pure primary colours directly on the canvas.

During the activity, we will familiarise ourselves with palette knives and their different uses by observing their effect on the surface. A rigid 9 in x 12 in canvas board will be provided for this exploration.

All materials are included. No prior experience is required.
